For the hundreds of people who came to see The Scarlet Pumpernickel, you may want to know what happened to Rene – the three-foot tall orange bear.

He was raffled off to help raise funds for our chosen charity of the year – Cardiac Risk in the Young. In all we were able to donate £333 to the charity. Many thanks to all who supported the cause.

Rene was won by a lady called Janice from Middlesbrough, but Janice said she had little room or use for him and asked if he could be donated to the Children’s Ward at The James Cook University Hospital in the town.

Rene has already settled in, learning to colour in –with a little help from the nursing staff.IMG_6302

Rene’s enjoyed colouring in so much he got a blister on his finger and had to have a dressing put on it.

Due to his excellent acting skills, Rene is in negotiations to star in a series of reassurance videos for the children on the ward, such as ‘Rene has an x-ray’ and ‘Rene goes to theatre’ (surgical not arts!).

Watch this space for further updates ……… and the BAFTAS next year, of course!
